My Life – Early

My father Mark Bello was first a Rocker who then felt R’n’B only to finish up with the Funk for desert.  As a drummer he transplanted himself from Chicago to Oakland for that stinky soulful funk.  He definitely got a good wiff of some seriously esoteric jazz though with the likes of Tony Williams and George Marsh hanging around.

From all I could remember I think my first gig was at a wedding with my pops.  He was playing drums in the band and I eventually I snagged one of his Cabasa’s.  I was about 5 and I felt like I played all night.  read on ->
